What are hole saws used for?

Hole saws are used for very many purposes. There are a number of sizes of holesaws that are very widely used. A 22-millimetre hole drill, for example, is widely used for drilling holes for electrical pipes. For drilling a tap hole in a kitchen worktop, a 35-millimetre hole drill is usually used; for most kitchen taps, drilling a 35-millimetre hole is sufficient to feed the hoses for the water supply through. To drill holes for wall sockets in a hollow wall, use a 76 millimetre hole drill. If you have marked out the holes and just want a slightly smaller hole for your socket, a 64 millimetre hole drill will also do. Make sure you drill this hole exactly in the middle of the wall box.

When drilling a hole for your recessed spotlight, make sure you stay at least 4 to 6 millimetres inside the outer ring of your recessed spotlight. That way, you spotlight will never fall through the hole!
