Circular Saw Blades

Wovar offers a large selection of circular saw blades. The diameters of our blades range from 160 to 250 mm, and the number of teeth on the blade from 24 (T24) to 48 (T48). The number of teeth determines the speed of the saw. A blade with fewer teeth will cut through the wood faster, but will not be as clean as a blade with more teeth. This works great for construction projects where the look of the beam is not important. If the appearance is essential, it is better to select a blade with a high number of teeth. These blades are slower, but the result is smoother and more accurate. On top of that, it produces fewer splinters.

The width of the saw blade determines the width of the cut. You will find this number on the product page of the blade. The diameter of the blade determines how deep you can cut and consequently the maximum dimensions of the object you want to cut.

A rough or precise cut?

The number of teeth on the blade greatly influences the end result. The rule is: the fewer teeth on the blade, the faster you can work, and the rougher the cuts will be. More teeth results in a more precise and clean cut. When cutting posts and beams that are purely structural and will be covered, appearance is not that important. However, with, for example, furniture, you want the cut to be as clean as possible. Ask yourself how significant a clean cut is for your project, so you can decide on the best circular saw blade for you.

Should the blade be the same brand as my saw?

You can use Wovar's saw blades for any circular saw. Just keep in mind that blades with a diameter of 250 mm are only suitable for stationary saws and not for portable ones. The disc bore size ranges from 20 to 30 mm, so they will fit on most circular saws. Check the dimensions of your circular saw before buying a saw blade.

Saw blade grooves

Between the teeth, there is a groove that allows the heat to escape, so the blade will not overheat. The result is that these saw blades last a lot longer. These gullets between the teeth become smaller when the blade has more teeth. These blades do not last as long, but do create a much cleaner cut.

Next to heat dispersion, the gullets lower the noise level of the saw and allow room for the blade to slightly expand. Finally, the gullets minimalise the tremors of the saw.
