This compact submersible pump can be used at a depth of up to 7 metres and is suitable for use in both dirty and clean water. The maximum diameter of the dirt particles in the water in which you use the submersible pump is 35 mm, which is more than enough for Sand, for example. The pump can be used in water temperatures up to 35 degrees Celsius and pumps away water up to a layer of 20-40 mm.

Connecting dirty water submersible pumps

1 inch (25 mm) and 1 1/2 inch (38 mm) hoses can be connected directly to the submersible pump with a hose clamp. You use a hose clamp on the hose to strengthen the connection and ensure that the hose stays tight. These clamps are available from Wovar in all sizes and for this you can visit our product category hose clamps.

Connecting submersible pumps to hose

If you do not have a 1 or 1 1/2 inch hose, no problem! Saw off the first part of the connection to the submersible pumps, up to the Screw thread. After this you can easily screw our 1" tap connection with nipple onto the submersible pump. Then connect your garden hose with a hose connector to the nipple that is now attached to the bell pump.

A complete explanation of this can be read in our blog 'how does a submersible pump work?'.

Submersible pump with float

Start by attaching a hose to the submersible pump's hose connector and placing the other side of the hose at the place where you want to pump the water. Simply plug the 10-metre cable into the socket and the submersible pump is ready to use.

Place the submersible pump upright in the water and let it sink to the bottom. The useful float switch will notice that the pump is in the water because the float will float, this switches on the submersible pump.
