Flush Bolts

Flush bolts are locks that are recessed into the door. These locks are used for French doors and double windows without a frame in the middle. With French doors, there tends to be one door that is mainly used and one that is closed most of the time. The latter can be closed using flush bolts at the top and bottom of the door. By using two flush bolts, you prevent the door from warping and rattling. Flush bolts are a more hidden alternative to the very visible espagnolette locks. All of our flush bolts are lever action bolts.

Flush bolts are used to lock doors. Naturally, we offer flush bolts in different sizes, shapes, and colours, so you will always find a flush bolt that fits your doors. Before installing flush bolts, always measure well to determine the size you require.

Lever action flush bolt

Lever action flush bolts are recessed in the door, which means they are completely hidden when the doors are closed. Use two flush bolts per door, one at the top and one at the bottom, for the most secure locking and to prevent the door from warping. Due to the special design of the lever action bolt, it is impossible to push down the locking pin without using the lever. This means the flush bolt is incredibly secure. All our flush bolts include a strike plate.

Installing flush bolts

Installing flush bolts is relatively straightforward when your door already has the mortices for the flush bolts. Measure the size of the mortice to determine which flush bolt you need. The corresponding fasteners are not included, but are always mentioned on the product page. Place the flush bolt in the mortice and fasten it with the screws. Next, check where the hole for the pin should be. Drill a hole with a spade drill bit in this spot and fasten the strike plate. Follow these steps for both the flush bolt at the top of the door and the flush bolt at the bottom.

When there is no mortice yet in the door, you can use a plunge router, or hammer and chisel to create a mortice yourself. Next, follow the previously outlined steps. If you are not comfortable making a mortice in the door or if it is not possible in your door, you can install the flush bolts on the inside of the door instead of on the side. If you decide to do this, make sure there is a threshold on the inside of the door as well.
