The lock case of the mortise locks is 72 mm deep (this includes the front plate), 47 mm and 14 mm wide. The front plate has a height of 101 mm, width of 22 mm and thickness of 4 mm. 

In addition, the mandrel size of the keyhole is 47 mm. This is the distance from the forend to the centre of the keyhole. Figure 2 shows the exact dimensions of all parts.

Fitting a SKG lock extra lock

In the step-by-step instructions below you will find a detailed description of how to install this equal-locking mortise lock. 

To fit this lock you will need the following tools:

a hardwood drill bit 10 mm, a butterfly drill bit 14 mm and 15 mm, a hammer, a chisel and a screwdriver.

StEP 1:Place the lock 50 cm from the top or bottom of the door.
Step 2: Draw a rectangle 46 mm high and 14 mm.
At that spot, draw a rectangle 46 mm high and 14 mm.
Step 3:Use the butterfly drill 14 mm and chisel to drill out and chisel this hole 72 mm deep. Please note: make sure this hole is not too wide. Otherwise, the lock will be easy to force.
Step 4: Next, lay the lock at the level of the drilled hole and determine the location of the keyhole. 
Step 5: Mark the location of the keyhole and drill it with the hardwood drill bit 10 mm.
Step 6: Then place the lock in the hole and mark the outline of the front plate.
Step 7: Use the chisel to make a 4 mm deep recess for the front plate.
Step 8: Place the lock with the sticker facing the outside and screw it in place.
Step 9: Close the door and tighten the lock.
Step 10: You will now see two dots on your frame of the shots. At the location of these dots, drill two holes 25 mm deep with a diameter of 15 mm. Use the butterfly drill bit 15 mm to do this.
Step 11: Place the Strike box over the holes and mark the outline of the strike box faceplate.
Step 12: Use the chisel to make a 4 mm deep recess for the strike box faceplate.
Step 13: Next, insert the strike box into the frame and screw it down.
Step 14: Install the keyplates over the keyhole on both sides of the door. Use the key plate with the cover tab on the outside.
