How does the Postsaver Post Protector work?

The roll with post protector is made up of 2 layers; an outer layer made of polyethylene and an inner layer made of bitumen. You apply the protective layer to your posts using a gas burner or other source of fire. The burner will melt the inner layer, causing the sleeve to shrink around the post. When the cover has shrunk enough, it will sit tight around the post and act as a protective layer. The Postsaver should be applied at the boundary between ground and air, as this is where the most rot will occur. 

How do I apply the Anti-Rot Post Protector?

To begin with, you must have a wooden post, which is completely dry. A dry post will ensure the best connection. Then you determine where the Postsaver should be, this is exactly against the ground surface (just don't let it protrude above the ground). The Postsaver forms a protective bag around the posts. You apply the post protector by melting it, as it were, so you need a burner for this. Keep the burner close to the protective bag at a distance of about 30 cm. Keep a close eye on the shrinkage and pay extra attention to the top and bottom edges of the Postsaver, because it is important that these points fit well. After confirming the Postsaver, it is a good idea to let it cool down for a while.
