Attaching the Shade Sail to a Fence

It is possible to attach your shade sail to a wooden fence with an eye plate. You screw the plate into the wood, after which you use a carabiner, turnbuckle, and/or stainless steel chain, to connect the sail to the eye plate.

With a wooden fence, it is best to attach the eye bolt to the post of your fence, this provides extra strength. With the carabiners, you can easily attach or detach the sail. With the turnbuckle, you can tighten the sail properly. A stainless steel chain is useful to bridge the distances between the sail and the attachment point.

If you also want to fix the shade sail in a stone wall, use eye bolts instead of an eye plate for firm anchoring. For example, you can choose to fix the sail only in walls, or, for example, to fix 2 points in a wall and 1 point in a wooden post.

Tip: You can also use rails with an eye. You can then adjust the position of the sail and move with the sun if necessary. Because the shade sail is waterproof, it is recommended to mount the sail with a slope. Take into account 20 cm per linear meter. By placing the sail at an angle, the rainwater can easily run off. In addition, make sure to mount the shade fabric with the seams (lengthwise). This prevents water from getting trapped behind the seams and the water flows easily off the shade cloth.
