Wood construction screws Yellow Galvanised 8.0 x 120 mm Torx - box 50 pieces
The Wovar wood construction screw yellow galvanised is widely used for heavy and sturdy constructions. It is the improved version of the lag screw. Wovar's wood construction screws have a Torx 40 drive, which allows the screw to be easily and quickly screwed into the wood with your power tool. Always use our high-quality torx 40 bits for installing. For even faster installation and extra comfort, our magnetic bit holders with 2 free torx 40 bits are recommended. The head of the screw is approximately 20 mm wide.
Advantages of wood construction screws
The remarkable strength of the Wood construction screws can be attributed to the screw's wide head. This provides a large support and an enormous clampability. The Wovar wood construction screws are also provided with galvanised steel. This means that they are stronger than stainless steel screws. Unlike lag screws, pre-drilling is not necessary when using soft wood narrower than 80 mm. This is due to the convenient cutting point of the wood construction screws. Pre-drilling is recommended when working with hardwood or when the beams are thicker than 80 mm. Pre-drilling ensures that the wood construction screw does not go crooked in the wood or get stuck. To maintain sufficient traction, it is recommended to use our 6 mm hardwood drill bits. Pre-drilling is not necessary for wooden materials that are narrower than 80 mm.
The threads of the wafer head timber screw
The wood construction screws are partially threaded. This has the advantage that no gap is created with wood on wood constructions. In addition to this screw head, the Wovar wood construction screws have another big plus. The wafer head timber screws have shank ribs. This ensures that wooden materials are pulled together extra firmly. This is because the shank ribs make room for the shank of the screw. This puts less stress on the screws and maintains optimum strength. The wood construction screws from Wovar have a coarse screw thread. Coarse thread shortens the screw-in torque so that you can install even more wood construction screws per battery charge.
